Alexa Skills Development
Amazon Alexa is a virtual assistant developed by internet retailer Amazon, first used in the Amazon Echo and the Amazon Echo Dot smart speakers. Submarine have extended the functionality of the device in support of a local Guernsey requirement - recycling.
The Alexa device is capable of voice interaction, music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic, sports along with other real-time information.
Alexa capability can be extended and the experience personalised through the use of 'Skills' which can be added to the device through an account and the Alexa app. With the increasing domestic footprint of Alexa, this opens up the potential for a new comms and service channel which Submarine are now exploring.
